Welcome to the 1st Pop-up Takeaway of March. We have decided to mark the anniversary of the Italian Lockdown, which was declared on March 9th 2020. The lockdown started in the region of Lombardy & surrounding areas, but how much do we know of the cuisine of this area?

Lombardy is the richest & most populous region in Italy, with Milan being the largest city in Italy and the fashion capital of Europe. It is no wonder that everyone in UK started to wake up to the seriousness of corona virus when the national lockdown of Italy was declared - so close to home.

The cuisine of the Lombardy tends to have very little in common with central or Southern Italian styles. Certainly, the use of olive oil & tomatoes is not as common. The region borders Switzerland in the North and the cuisine has more in common with central Europe & Austria. It is known for its abundance of game, hazelnuts, walnuts, polenta, pork, risotto, saffron and dairy produce, including the legendary Gorgonzola cheese.

All food will be cold, simple re-heating instructions will be provided.
